Saving Yesterday For Tomorrow

This is the Meikai EL, a camera introduced in 1963 by Togodo, a minor japanese camera manufacturer. This simple and cheap camera was targeted at a young audience and was often sold in toy and stationary stores back then.

With that said, what was your memory of your first camera? Come and share them with us. =)

Dont know if that was the toy that also shoots water out or there was one with a rotating device with pictures when you click on the shoot button.

    • Ipoh Remembered says:

Dear sk … It may have been sold in toy stores because it was inexpensive and meant for kids to enjoy, but it was a real camera that used real film. You could even attach a flash to it. It took real photographs.

  2. sk says:

Ipoh Remembered, if it took real photographs, must be an expensive affair as you have to buy films & you need to process it the old fashion way. Not cheap after all.
Will the film be over expose ?

    • Ipoh Remembered says:

Dear sk … People with this camera have posted photographs they took with it. You can see some here, for example. Or search for “Meikai EL” and see what you find.
