Great event not to be missed! Grateful to Organising Committee for effort and sacrifice of time devoted to reunite friends of ‘old’.

    Warm regards,

Unfortunatley, I will have to give it a miss. Kudos to the organising committee.

Ladies and Gentlemen of Ipoh and beyond. Please look carefully at the poster above which has been revised as of 29 March 2012 and also enlarged to make it easier for those with ageing eyes (like me) to read. Don’t wait to book your places. Just do it now. You know it makes sense!

When I first heard about the ACS/MGS Alumni dinner from Mr. Chin Yoong Kim back in January, I was really excited. Being out of the country for so many years, I’ve not had many opportunities to attend such a gathering to meet old friends and teachers. This year, I happen to have a family gathering in Ipoh around the time of the Alumni dinner. I wasn’t going to pass up such a great opportunity to make my very first Alumni dinner. I also decided that I was going to persuade my uncles, brother-in-law and nieces, all ACS/MGS alumni, to attend with me. It turned out they didn’t need much persuasion at all. Like me, they too were excited by the opportunity to reconnect with old friends. So, with the help of Mr. Chin, I have reserved a table, and 3 generations of my family will be attending this Alumni dinner for the very first time – Fred (ACS Form 5, 1954), Herbert (ACS Form 5, 1964), Ivan (ACS Form 5, 1968), Joey (ACS Form 5, 1970), myself (ACS Upper Six, 1974), Valerie (MGS Form 5, 1990, ACS Upper Six, 1992) and Nicole (MGS Form 5, 2000).

We look forward to seeing many of our old friends and teachers at this gathering. I am sure it will be a challenge to recognize each other!

And finally, a huge thanks to the committee for organizing this event, and Mr Chin in particular for helping me with organizing my own table.

Would like to know who is Herbert (ACS Form 5, 1964). I happened to be of the class of 64 too and will like to meet up with Herbert. His full name and contact will be fine.

Hi Tuen C. K., Y C, Goh Kooi and all out there,

Thank you for your expression of support.

    C. K. , what a wonderful idea to gather so many generations of ypur extended family together to celebrate the occasion! I am sure that there are many other families whose members have attended both of our schools. Your effort is worthwhile emulating. It is by any means a very strong gesture of your regard and affection for our alma mater and your fellow classmates of those years.

A Treasure Hunt event is also planned for that day. Particiupants will be flagged off from a location in Petaling Jaya early in the morning and the hunt will end up in Ipoh ACS early in the afternoon. At the tea party participants will have the opportunity to meet with the Principal, Mrs. Lee, some of the academic staff and some present students. A conducted tour of the school is in the schedule.

The tulips, I am told, will be ACS and Ipoh related.

The launch of the official Alumni Website will take place on Sunday, 29 April this year at The Royal Lake Club, Kuala Lumpur. The event will commence at 3 p.m. More details will be posted at the Alumni Website shortly.

Please log into http://acsipohalumni.com to stay in touch. We hope you will be able to join us at the event.

Last night my wife and I were privileged to be guests of LMS at this magnificent finction. What a great evening was had by all and the ACS/MGS families bonded like never before. It was a truly awesome affair that can only be described as a roaring success. Our congratulations go to the joint organising committee.

For those of you who didn’t go or couldn’t get a seat you missed a truly historic occasion where everybody involved, including the hotel staff, pulled out all the stops to make the evening a success – not easy with more than 1100 guests to feed!

Finally may I thank LMS for his kindness in inviting us. We had a marvellous evening. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Hi Ian,

It was a pleasure having you and Sofia with us at our Joint Alumni Dinner which commemorated the 117th Anniversary of the founding of Ipoh ACS and the 115th for Ipoh MGS.
Friendship, camaraderie and nostalgia pervaded the entire evening. Age was no barrier. The interactions cutting across different Graduating Years – some decades apart – were so spontaneous and easy.
Here’s to more and better to come!
Thanks for your whiskey treat :)

Heartfelt thanks to Ipohworld for reuniting Class of 66. Commander Anderson my apologies that I missed you and Sofia. ACS/MGS Reunion Dinner was a resounding success, well done to Committee and Organising Committee. No offence to others Sake Hoe and Guna my sincere thanks for your tireless efforts in contributing to a joyous occasion. I shall on my next visit spend more time in Ipoh. Two people I had hoped to meet at the dinner were, Miss Yau Hean Yoke (relative of Miss Yau Sook Fun, Headmistress MGS, Ipoh) and Dorothy Corbett. Sadly a missed opportunity.

Thank you for a wonderful site and warmest regards,

    Y C

Having left Ipoh on the evening of Monday 30/7 and arriving home in Melbourne on Tuesday 31/7, I was mad enough to book my flights back to Ipoh for the reunion that night as I felt it was not an event I wanted to miss. So it was back on a plane on Friday 3/8, overnighting in Singapore and arriving in Ipoh the next morning to be picked up at the airport by an ex classmate back from the UK! We had so much fun as 9 of us booked into the apartments at Kinta Riverfront for the night. The night was full of nostalgia meeting up with old schoolmates and teachers from both schools. The next morning, it was back on the plane for Singapore and Melbourne again – insane but I loved every minute of it and would do it again! A huge Thank You to the organising committee. Please make sure this is not the last ACS/MGS combined reunion. I hope it was as financially rewarding as it was emotionally rewarding for those who made it to the event.

  • Y C

YM Khew you did the right thing! I too travelled from UK to attend the event. After the event train to KL flight to JB and S’pore then flight back to UK. No expense spared worth every penny (sen). Cherished memories of youth rekindled what a wonderful feeling. Also sad some passed on but not absent from our thoughts.
