The Teachers of SMJK Poi Lam, 1970
We’re featuring another photograph about SMJK Poi Lam. From what our donor (Veronica Woo) told us, the Poi Lam Alumni will be having a gathering this Saturday. With that in mind, how many of you former Poi Lam teachers/students recognise this (see below)?
This is a photo of teachers of SMJK Poi Lam, Ipoh during the school general assembly on 12 November, 1970. SMJK Poi Lam, a Chinese-based secondary school, was founded by the Perak Hock Kean Association in 1955. In the early years, the school started off with only three classrooms and an enrolment of 120 students. Then, in 1962 SMJK Poi Lam was granted status as a government-aided school. The first principal of the school was Mr Ng Cheng Aik who retired in 1976 after 21 years of service in the teaching profession.
Ya. I was from SMJK Poi Lam. Would like to know 高锦芳老师 was one of those in the picture? Was 老唐老师also in? Photo is quite warn out.
Anyone can help to locate old classmates of 1968/69 Form 5 Science Class?

Many thanks for the info. Come to think of it, Ching Yeok did go to NZ for further studies while I came to Spore for my career.
Wonder what facebook name is he adopting? Guess u must be from Poi Lam as well ya?

I’m frm SMI. He uses his english name. What form were you in in 1967? My sister was in Form 3 then.
I mean she was also in Poi Lam in 1967.

Can’t really recall which yr was it when I attended Form 5. Guess it should be 1967. We were from Form 5 Science. Only remember vividly there were names like:
张健生(lecturing at Ngee Ann Poly?),
张瑞福(teaching now at Anderson Sec in Spore),
胡祖恭(was told to have tied knot with another classmate 魏丽萍),
卓亚烈(he lives near my home in Spore),
张宝南(now teaching in Poi Lam).
Nice to know yr sis studied in Poi Lam. Must had seen in school- I was prefect then.
