The ‘FARGO’ Bus

bus copy 2

Remember these buses? Wonder what’s become of them. What drew my attention were the unique signal lights – notice the left and right arrows below the windshield! I’ve not come across such a sight before…. ;)

For those of you who rode such buses around town, how much was the fare?

It was Tanjung Rambutan Omnibus Co Ltd, and a reliable bus. When our parent (Police Field Force)from Aerodrome, Ipoh Camp transferred Ulu Kinta in Jun 1968, the primary school going children still schooling in Sek Keb Sg Rapat, Ipoh. We travelled daily with 3 chartered busses from Ulu Kinta Camp to Sek Keb Sg Rapat, Ipoh. Departed 0600 in the morning and reached home at 0230 in the evening daily. These buses were chartered until end of that year.

This was the bus (AH 4223) that I had board to school and could remember the fare cause I was in standard 5 and we paid the fare on monthly basis.

I am more interested in the pretty girl posing in front of the bus. Any idea who she is?

Wow! Othman, after all these years you can still remember the number plate of the bus you rode on back in school :)

As for who the pretty girl is, well…we don’t know…but if she’s reading this, we’d like to hear from you ;)

I probably rode on the bus when I was a wee kid. I used to stay at Canning Garden. The bus service to and back from Tg Rambutan went around Canning Garden.

  • Steven Lee were you a student from Ho Seng Ong Methodist School?

  • Steven Lee

Zurina: No, I didn’t study at Ho Seng Onn School even though I stayed nearby. I studied in SMI, from Standard 1 till Form 6.
