Searching the Database

Unlike Google or Yahoo, the database can only be searched with single word or phrases. For example, the keyword ´station´ will bring up all entries containing the word; 'Railway Station' will select all railway station; and 'Ipoh Railway Station' will be the most selective.

Punctuation

The database uses 'Open Punctuation' which means that abbreviation contains no spaces or full stops e.g. KTMB (not K.T.M.B.) and names contains initials with spaces but no full stops e.g. Mr J L Woods.

Spelling

Spelling of Malay words reflects the period to which the item relates e.g. Kampong and Kampung, Sungei and Sungai. Both may need to be searched for separately.
