This image is a photograph of the sleeve 'arm flash' on Norman Doctor's original uniform as worn during the Malayan Emergency and thereafter, until he was demobbed from National Service Duty with the Royal Army Service Corps.
Norman and his colleague from his days in Malaya, Ken Thomas, have kindly provided two series of photographs and texts telling the stories of air despatch. These show the sequence of events necessary to drop psywars leaflets to the Communist terrorists and essential supplies to the jungle forts manned primarily by the police and the military anti-terrorist patrols operating in the jungle below. We are grateful for their help.
