Saving Yesterday For Tomorrow

Could this have been a branch of Cold Storage? Or, perhaps Cold Storage’s competitor? We don’t know, so we’re hoping someone out there could help us out. Our anonymous donor didn’t say much about this photograph (and unfortunately, we are no longer in contact with this person). I’m sure someone out there visited 47 Cockman Street at some point in their life…

Well, the last time this photograph was posted, Ken Chan said:

Cathay Cold Creameries Co. was [a] shop-front ice cream factory […] located […] directly across from French Hotel. When the business folded up, the premises was leased to Equisite Tailor, a popular men’s tailor shop during the mid 70′s and early 80′s. This tailor shop is no longer in existence and if I remember correctly, the store front was converted into some kind of medical/lab testing facility.

    (See http://www.ipohworld.org/2014/07/21/seen-truck/.)

What I can say is that right next door to Cathay Cold Creameries was the Boston Milk Bar (which we’ve mentioned before). Were the two companies related? I don’t know.

And no, there was no relationship to Cold Storage or the Loke family’s Cathay Organization.
