The ipohWorld Launch, Courtesy of the Star Newspaper 13 June 2009
As an introduction to the launch of ipohWorld’s new website, database archive and blog at the Royal Ipoh Club on 13 June 2009, the Star Newspaper kindly featured us on the same morning. The photographs in the above article show the ipohWorld project manager demonstrating the type of information available in the archive ( on the screen are members of the Malay Regiment on anti communist patrol) and students of Tenby Schools, Ipoh interviewing Dato Seri Yuen Yuet Leng about his 35 years in the police, with particular emphasis on the Malayan Emergency.
More information about the Emergency, Dato Seri and the role of Tenby students within ipohWorld may be found on the website and archive.

After your launch on 13th June 2009 till today, u have shined brightly through. Thank U Ian, Mrs.Ian, Felica, and the rest of
the team, with your hard day work, dedication and devotion U have demonstrate of what ipohworld is today. Bravo!
…and I have even found some old school friends and more improbably still, friends of my parents who are now in their 80s and whom we have lost contact with more than 55 years ago. Thanks to Ian and Sofia as well as the Ipohworld team.
Thank you Sundra and Sybil.
One of the great things about running ipohWorld is the feeling of satisfaction when we help students with their studies (which we do outside of the blog) and when our readers meet up with old friends through our pages. Some of the contacts like the Sybil story above are absolutely amazing but heartwarming too.
If you all keep on writing in and telling your friends about us, then together we can achieve miracles.
Best wishes for the festive season and thank you all for being in our world, ipohWorld.
Thank you Ian, Felicia and Sofia for your good job done! We may be thousands of miles away from Ipoh but through ipohWorld, we get a sense of comfort!
Season’s greetings to you and all other readers.
Cindy Koo
