Miner of Perak
This is a picture of Mr Ng Boo Bee. He came to Malaya as a penniless coolie to try his luck in the mining industry. And he became a well known miner and businessman in Perak, mainly Taiping.

At Last it’s Legal, but Where was it?
This old picture turned up in Kampar amidst a whole lot of other local photographs originally belonging to a friend’s father. Of course it is not a Perak registration and may not even be in Perak, but being the eternal optimists we are posting it in case it is recognised.
The guests seem to be mainly European although there could be some Chinese on the left. The simple ribbon decoration on the car is also very typical of the British. The Syce is of course very smartly turned out for the occasion.

SMI Sports Day, 1964
From the remarks on the back of this photograph, we believe that one of the boys in this event is Foo Boon Seng – who happened to be in Std. 4A in 1964.
All Michaelians out there: If anyone knows more about this event do let us know; we also hope to hear from Mr Foo Boon Seng himself!
